Ok! I know its been a while... :P But its never toooooo late to write a blogpost :D It might seem like I write only farewel posts in my blog evry year.. Yes, 2014 kept me a lil busy tat I couldn't spend my tym whole-heartedly in my blog... However I wanted to complete dis vry badly to leave de footprints of 2014 to be revisited by me to cherish those moments n memories ! :) The year did start as usual with not much expectations except those admit cards which wer in de air.. Oh yea, I can't miss by Bday celeb of de yr.. It was at my very own metro wit de whole family at midnit 12 ! :D Arthi ka, v missed yu dis yr... Last yr, yu all gav me a surprise de moment I landed from Shirdi. Dis tym, it was no less than tat except tat yu, kumaran mama, sharu baby n vaalee wer solely missed. Btw vidhu ka, I hope my watch is stil safe ! :)
The life-changing event happened on 25th of March wen I received an email from Cornell confirming my admission for the M.Eng Program ! :) Voila! :) :) I was actually checking my emails sitting on my bed in the PG after coming back from ofc and wen I actually saw an email from Cornell, my joy knew no bounds. I jst can't express in words abt de feelings that I had tat eve since all those frustrations of job hunt n stuff tat happened in de yr 2010 was happening again in lyf wen 2014 started since no universities turned bak with their decisions. Then came Cornell like a blessing in disguise! :) I started calling everyone startin from amma, appa, vidhu ka, babu mama, arthi ka, kumaran mama to convey de news.. And yea, they all gave a mixed kinda expressions since they wanted me to get married before I pursue my studies like all typical Indian families! :D It was a little easier to convince though since the course tat I got thru was jst for 9 months! :)
Admission mil gayi.. Wat mre do I want in lyf?! :) I had a completely wrong perception.. Den came in de real headache.. All those I20 funds, running behind de banks for loan, de Visa documents, etc.. etc...etc... Almost starting from April til July, all my weekends were spent in the banks more than at home. Somehow, everything was sorted out and I booked my tickets for July. Meanwhile, I had conveyed my team also about my resignation and they were a pretty upset for obvious reasons. I started shopping in full swing along with my frnd who was coming for Masters along with me. We almost shopped everywhr starting from Commercial street, MG Road, Indira Nagar n so many places and almost every Levis showroom would know our faces by then! :P
July 18, 2014.. It was exactly 3 yrs since I joined NetApp (July 18, 2011) as a full-time employee. I was almost done wit my KT also by then.. It was such a great farewell given by the team.. Lunch with the farewell gift.. and who would have guessed that they wud give me a silver Sai-Baba Idol ! :) They also gifted me a clutch along with such a cute greeting card wit all their wishes written on it! More than all tat, the farewell speech given by each and everyone for me was such a pleasant experience and I was moved to tears, literally! :) Team, I miss you too...
July 28, 2014.. 10 days were left since de tym I left NetApp for me to board the flight.. Most of the tym was spent with SBI for de loan procedures.. Rest half at home wit amma n appa.. All packing was done by vidhu ka n blore athai.. So I had not even 0.01% percent of idea abt wat was kept in my baggage :P British Airways, it was... De first tym International flight experience.. And yes, I had like zillions of doubts that I kept buggin Babu mama abt de Immigration procedures in London n US over n over again. Finally, with all de doubts settled, I was all set to board de flight.. Babu mama had left to Canada by then for on-site... So it was appa, amma, vidhu ka and de most spl person of my lyf who had come for send-off.. De most spl person was my sai-krishhiiiiii who keeps calling nivi-thithiiiiii every single sec wen I'm around.. But without much drama in de airport, I waved bye to all of dem n boarded de flight. The first flight till London was pretty gud and I din't find it tiring since most of de faces looked familiar in de flight and it had de total Indian-flight ka environment. 5 hrs of layover at London... I had looked at the airport from one-end to the other for almost close to 4-5 times having nothing to do.. Had some sudoku papers in de waiting area.. And finally noticed de free wi-fi around... Tym jst flew. Next flight was a lil horrible though.. Not sure if I was suffocating so much coz of those drinks around but it annoyed me a lot tat I was waiting for the flight to land in Boston..
Boston... Journey was smooth so der should be something tat comes to it in de name of "dhristi".. I wasn't able to locate my bags in de conveyor belt. Somehow those ppl returned my baggage after an hour wait. Gud tat it didn't come in de conveyor belt since I dint hav de pain of carryin it! :P Was so happy seeing everyone especially sharu baby n vaaaleee! :)
It took me a while to get settled and luckily I dint have much of jet lag trouble. Did most of my purchase in Boston wit akka n mama before coming to Ithaca. Reached Ithaca on Aug 15th and anything tat follows Ithaca's experience and Cornell's experience wil be in de upcoming posts since I don't wanna extend dis post anymre ! :) It has been a great journey and experience so far in Cornell and got placed too (this experience wud again be covered in de nxt post) ! :)
Many thanks to all de technologies!:) Thanks to Skype, Viber, WeChat, WhatsApp, Facebook... I'm missing everyone very badly but not really! :) Confusin, hain na?! ;) However thanks to the year 2014 for all tat it has given me.. for all de lessons tat it had taught me.. for all the joy tat it showered on me... for all the trouble tat it gave me but at de same tym de strength tat it provided me to overcome de trouble :P Thanks to another lyf-changin moment tat 2014 gav me on Oct 11! :) Above all, Thanks to de Almighty and my parents and my family and my frnds for making me wat I'm today! :) I owe yu all tons n tons of luv n affection wherever I go! Luv yu n Miss yu! God Bless!
